Invisible Light, Visible Impact

Honoring Dr. David Brenner and Advancing Far-UVC Research

We invite you to support the newly established Far-UVC Research Fund at Columbia.

The mission of Columbia University’s Center for Radiological Research (CRR) is to be on the forefront of radiation science and its applications in clinical medicine, public health, and national defense. Led by David Brenner, PhD, the CRR has been a pioneer in the field with the success of our far-UVC research program.

Far-UVC research now stands at a pivotal moment. Building on Dr. Brenner’s discovery of a specific spectrum of ultraviolet light capable of disrupting viral DNA without harming humans, his team has achieved a series of significant breakthroughs. Laboratory studies have demonstrated that far-UVC technology is a highly efficient and cost-effective safeguard against airborne pathogens.

As this research continues to advance, we are moving closer to the broad use of far-UVC technology in indoor spaces where people gather. Yet important work remains. Further study is needed to understand efficacy against emerging threats such as avian flu, as well as long-term safety considerations, including use around children.

Your 100% tax-deductible donation will help Dr. Brenner and his colleagues accelerate this promising working—research that is poised to transform how we prevent the spread of infectious diseases in indoor environments worldwide.
