Columbia Mailman Centennial Gala Celebration

The Centennial Gala at Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health will recognize the impact of the School over the last 100 years and will launch the School into its vision for the second century.

The Centennial Gala will recognize the visionary commitment of Dean Linda Fried and the entire faculty in changing the trajectory of the population’s health. The event will raise funds for the School, to highlight the School’s continuous accomplishments through its faculty and researchers, and to launch the School into the second century.

  • 2015: Judith Rodin, PhD, for her leadership of The Rockefeller Foundation during its centennial anniversary; and CVS Health, for their groundbreaking decision to cease selling tobacco products in their stores; and,
  • 2017: Yusuf K. Hamied, PhD, Chair of Cipla pharma, for his providing life-saving medications in Africa and India regardless of patient’s ability to pay; Nicholas Kristof, columnist NYTimes, for his transformational journalism addressing public health crises and injustices; Johnson & Johnson for their CaringCrowd campaign to support global health initiatives, accepted by Jaak Peeters, Global Head, Global Public Health; Doris Duke Charitable Foundation, for supporting community-based health planning across the globe, particularly in Africa, accepted by Ed Henry, President and CEO.
