The 13th Annual Crown Awards Gala

On November 14, 2022, benefactors, faculty, and friends from the Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons community gathered for the 13th Annual Crown Awards Gala at The Glasshouse in New York City. The evening highlighted Columbia’s key community health programs to improve outcomes and care for all. The program, emceed by VP&S alum Judith F. Joseph, MD, MBA, also recognized our partners in philanthropy, who are collaborating with us to advance these initiatives. This year’s Crown Award was presented to Pfizer for their partnership to help increase the involvement of historically marginalized groups in clinical trials—both as research leaders and participants—through the Columbia-Pfizer Clinical Trials Diversity Initiative. In addition, special recognition was given to Johnson & Johnson for their generous support of our community health workers program, the William J. Matheson Foundation for their support of health education and outreach programming dedicated to increasing vaccine uptake in our local community, and Bank of America, which has supported multiple efforts dedicated to improving access to care, including our COVID vaccine outreach and education efforts. Guests also enjoyed a special performance by Tony and Emmy Award-Winning Artist LaChanze, who performed several hits from Summer: The Donna Summer Musical.
